The Historical and Folk Art Museum of the Municipality of Maroussi was founded in 1991. It has been in operation since 1994 and is the result of a long-standing effort to preserve the local cultural heritage.

From 1994 to 2010, it has been housed in many places in Maroussi, the first being on Panagi Kyriakou Str. (1994-1997) and the last on Dimitriou Ralli Str. (1999-2010).

All this time the Museum never ceased to enrich its collection, which today comprises about 1,500 objects, representatives of all reflects of the inhabitants’ lives.

At the new museum premises, at Vassilissis Olga Str., the exhibition’s planning guides the visitor to get to know the local history and tradition through three thematic sections: the first includes exhibits that revive the local history through the people who created it, the second represents as far as possible a residential environment, and the third is dedicated to the clothing typology that prevailed in the late 19th and in the early 20th century.
